The Fabric Industry's Sustainability Problem
The textile industry is one of the largest polluters on the planet, responsible for roughly 10% of global carbon emissions. Fast fashion has created a cycle of waste that's devastating to our environment. But change is happening, and it starts with the materials we choose.
What Makes a Fabric Sustainable?
Sustainable fabrics are produced with minimal environmental impact throughout their lifecycle. This means considering water usage during cultivation, chemicals used in processing, energy consumed in manufacturing, and biodegradability at end of life.
Organic cotton uses 91% less water than conventional cotton. Hemp grows without pesticides and actually enriches the soil. Tencel (lyocell) is made from sustainably harvested wood pulp in a closed-loop process that recycles 99% of solvents used.
Our Commitment at APC Fabrics
We're not just selling fabric. We're building a supply chain that respects the planet. We partner directly with mills that prioritize sustainable practices. We're expanding our organic and eco-friendly collection every quarter. And we believe that sustainable doesn't mean sacrificing quality or breaking the bank.
Every bolt we source is evaluated not just for quality and price, but for its environmental footprint. We're transparent about where our materials come from because we believe you deserve to know.
Making Better Choices
You don't have to overhaul your entire workflow to make a difference. Start by incorporating one sustainable fabric into your next project. Choose natural fibers when possible. Buy only what you need. And support suppliers who are transparent about their sourcing.
Together, we can reshape the fabric industry. One yard at a time.
